ABOUT US
East Metro Sports is more than just a sports facility. We are here to build a dynamic community.
One that the each and every person, participant or not, can be proud of. We want to use sports as a way to impress and improve upon the lives of our youth and their families. Give them a safe place to go and work towards becoming great in whatever it is that they want to be great in. After home and school, it’s often athletic fields and facilities that become the “third place” for so many kids. As such, we take our responsibility in this community very seriously.
The founder of East Metro Sports, LLC and East Metro Sports Foundation, Montilia "Monni" Tripp, has volunteered his time as a Basketball and Softball coach in the East Metro community for 8 of the past 11 years. He has taught many of the kids in the community in middle school, where at Clements Middle he was a 6th grade Math teacher for 5 years (2014-2019). Also, while serving as a teacher, he also served as the head boys basketball coach (overall record 52-8) for the past 4 years, head boys and girls track coach for three years, and assistant football coach for three years as well. Coach Tripp, as he is affectionately called, decided that he could help this community more with East Metro Sports than as a teacher. He believes that our youth need more help with their education outside of school and home and vows to be that bridge that brings school and home together.
Born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, John Edward is passionate about empowering youth through basketball while introducing them to insights from the tech and stock market world. As the CEO of his company, John combines his leadership skills with a commitment to nurturing young talent, ensuring that his organization thrives while making a positive impact. Although relatively new to coaching, John is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of the game, believing that these essential skills have often been overlooked in modern training. With nearly 20 years of experience as a Network Engineer and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Management, he possesses a keen eye for detail. This allows him to identify the small adjustments that can lead to significant improvements in player performance. John’s effective leadership as CEO stems from his ability to inspire and motivate his team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Growing up in Florida and Alabama, he has always drawn inspiration from sports in various forms. He looks forward to sharing his experiences with young athletes, illustrating how the skills they develop on the court can translate into success in both business and life.
Mission
East Metro Sports' mission is to empower the community to become productive citizens, and promote accountability for education, fitness, and wellness without excuses in our daily lives.
Core Values
At the absolute core of East Metro Sports is education. We want our community to be well rounded mentally, physically and spiritually. Not only our youth, but our adults and seniors as well. We believe that our community is better off when we are learning, growing and moving.

EAST METRO SPORTS ACADEMY
The East Metro Sports Academy is an after-school tutoring program that will allow members to receive after school care as well as GA Milestone, SAT and ACT Prep. These students/members will receive enrichment and extra help in the areas of Math and ELA to help better prepare them for EOG testing. They will also have access to the computer lab to use as a resource for projects, research, and homework completion. After homework is complete and students have enjoyed enrichment, they will participate in sports specific skills training.
This training will be tailored to the needs of the individual kid. Some of the trainings will be one on one training, small group training, as well as whole group training. They will learn how to play basketball the right way, and learn what it means to compete as well as what it means to have fun in the sport. My hope is to give these students/members a head-start with the game and help them build self-confidence in the classroom and on the court.
